LG Arena debuting in the UK this week?

March 19th, 2009

It may be  available in March but some folk in the know are predicting the KM900 being available in UK shops as early as this week.

Unfounded presumption or spot on guess?

There’s only about a week left in March so if LG want to keep their fans happy they’ll have to stay within that promised March release date.

On the other hand pinning down any precise release date is still a tricky undertaking. There’s still confusion about which networks will be carrying the device; Orange has a ‘coming soon’ sticker attached to the KM900 on the website and the LG section of T-Mobile’s online shop appears to be down, for some reason.

Whatever LG are up to, we’ll be posting specific launch dates and prices as and when we get them.

LG KM900 - 3G Review

March 12th, 2009

lg_arena_km900_review4

Until we get our eager mitts on the LG Arena we have to rely on hearsay, speculation and the occasional video. Well, here’s a turn up for the books, an actual review of the LG Arena KM900 with photos from 3G.co.uk.

Interesting points:

  • It’s so lightweight that the phone feels as if it should be quite low-tech
  • The S-Class UI is a tad disappointing but makes navigating the phone tremendously easy
  • Thumbs up for 5 megapixel camera and 8GB internal memory
  • Battery life is an improvement on previous models
  • A first rate media phone

3D S-Class UI on LG Cookie

March 9th, 2009

lg_cooky_005-537x1024LG have developed a really cool UI for the KM900, the 3D S-Class but why confine it to only one handset? Well, those kind folks at LG are trying to spread the 3D S-Class love by bringing out a whole raft of new handsets that include the S-CLass UI. The new Viewty 2 will include the S-Class UI, and LG have just announced that their Cookie handset, the KP500 will also come with it.

LG Arena KM900 Unboxed

March 3rd, 2009

Those lucky gadget buffs at Stuff.Tv have an LG Arena KM900 in their possession and have posted up the unboxing photos.

Warning: It’s freakishly similar to an iPhone.

lgarena-vsiphone

Keep your eye out for Stuff.TV’s full review which is in the pipeline. Initial impressions it’s the best LG touch screen out there and surpasses the Viewty and the Prada. But it’s small screen and sluggish web browsing experience lets it down compared to, yes you’ve guessed it, the iPhone (which is the obligatory first comparison any new touch screen phone must go through).

LG Blog AND LG Arena Facebook Group

March 3rd, 2009

lg-arena-km900-official-press-pic1

Alas, I only just stumbled on the LG Blog. If I had been aware of it, I would have found out about the official LG Mobile Facebook group and the excellent  KC780 competition. 15 lucky winners won the handset that comes with 8 megapixel camera and smart Blutooth. For everyone out there pining for the revolutionary LG Arena KM900, it’s advisable to join the Facebook group to find out all the latest news about the LG Arena. Judging by LG’s strategy to publicise the KC780 through a give away competition, it might be worth keeping an eye out on the Facebook group in case they feel like another great giveaway.

LG Arena - Why So Good?

February 24th, 2009

Well, let me tell you..

The Arena is a true multimedia phone with a unique 3D S-Class User Interface.

It’s the first phone to use Dolby Mobile from Dolby Laboratories, Inc. for top of the range surround sound for great music quality.

arena

The unique UI makes the most out of touchscreen technology and stops you wasting time on unneeded menus and applications. Designed around a 3d cube, the layout provides for a customisable home screen that you can then flick and scroll with a finger. Four multiple screens equates to four times more menu shortcuts.

The large 3.0-inch touch screen has WVGA resolution which is four times as sharper than QVGA and the result is the clearest LCD screen available on any mobile phone handset. All this adds up to make the LG Arena capable of watching DVD quality DivX or Xvid movies on the go.

arena2

The phone also supports all sorts of Google Mobile Services like Google search, Google Maps, GMail and Google Blogs with GPS and geo-tagging. The dimensions, 105.9 x 55.3 x 11.95 mm, are pretty sleek and add in the LG Arena’s refined metal casing and you’ve got a pretty nice little package on your hands.

Check out the video evidence.
